October 10th is not too far away now and with it will come the season premiere of Supergirl. Originally on CBS but now on The CW, Supergirl is the network’s newest show and fans are highly anticipating her entrance into the CW-Verse. We’re all eager to see Kara teaming up with The Flash again, but equally eager to see how Oliver Queen and John Diggle handle the all-powerful Kryptonian. Not to mention, how will Kara handle creeps with magic, like Damien Darhk, or speedsters from the future, like Eobard Thawne, or concepts of time travel with the Legends of Tomorrow — there’s a lot to get excited about.

But before we get to ALL of that, we’ve got the season premiere, on October 10th, which will feature Superman for a two-part opener for the first time. All we’ve seen of the Man of Steel up to now have been shadowy, back-lit figures and IM’s from Metropolis, but we’ll finally see him in National City, played by actor Tyler Hoechlin, interacting with Kara and helping her save the day.

And we get a sense of what that interaction will feel like in this trailer. Sure there’s danger to handle and the stakes will be felt and dealt with, but this is the Super Family. The House of El diaspora loves each other, has fun with each other, believes in each other and is confident with each other. We see all of that fun and love in this trailer as well as the world around our two heroes falling apart. Kat Grant (Calista Flockhart) can’t handle that her assistant Kara (Melissa Benoist) knows Clark Kent. Winn Schott (Jeremy Jordan) can’t help but fanboy over Superman, starting his run of a thousand questions with how he shaves.

We know. Supergirl is not a perfect show. There are plenty of episodes filled with narrative convenience, unrealistic consequences and inflated stakes, but damn if it isn’t just a really fun show. If you want realistic drama, re-watch The Wire — if you want hope, blue skies and smiles, Supergirl is perfect.
