Spider-Man Homecoming title card

We’ve seen our fair share of Spider-Man: Homecoming posters. Some have been good. Some have been not-so-good, but this one — THIS ONE — it might take the cake for the best. And it’s not 100% official. At least, not Marvel official: not exactly. It was commissioned by a UK cinema chain, Odeon Cinemas, from artist Matt Ferguson to give out to fans who watch 3D screenings at their theatres.

In the poster, we can see the New York City skyline in the background, Avengers Tower prominent among the skyscrapers lining the city. We also see Iron Man in the background, flying high and off to avenge some wrongdoing no doubt. However, in the foreground is our hero, Peter Parker, a.k.a. Spider-Man (Tom Holland), web-slinging his way right along with Iron Man.

It’s the Ol’ Webhead and Shellhead teaming up for an adventure.

Putting Spider-Man in the foreground of the poster is important and not just because this is his film. Obviously, that’s important, but it’s also symbolic in that Spider-Man is the future of this team. He’s proof, in this particular world, that there will always be a hero when one is called upon. Iron Man has been with us for ten years already, he’s getting older, it’s harder for him to get out and avenge. But Spider-Man is new blood. He’s eager to find his place on the team and save the world as best as he can.

Not to mention that pose — classic Spider-Man.

For us, this is the poster we’ll think of when we think of the movie.
