New Year, New Season, Still Badass in COBRA KAI Season 3 Trailer

Still of William Zabka and Xolo Mariduena in Season 3 of Cobra Kai.

It may be a new year, but the cast of Cobra Kai is still badass. After dropping a slew of new images in our collective lap for Season Three, it was only a matter of time before a trailer followed suit. And yes, the trailer is just as delightful as you would think.

The pervasive theme seems to be burying the past as a rock version of “Auld Lang Syne” provides background music. Johnny (William Zabka) attempts to mend fences with a hospitalized Miguel (Xolo Maridueña), citing that he’ll always be the latter’s teacher. Daniel (Ralph Macchio) even tries to bridge the divide between himself and Johnny. The pair team up to bust some baddies — at least that’s what’s conveyed in the trailer. Amanda LaRusso (Courtney Henggeler) jokingly refers to Daniel and Johnny as “Tango and Cash.” Speaking of Amanda, one of my favorite trailer moments showcases her taking a swing at John Kreese (Martin Kove). Get it, girl!

Good vs. evil is another running theme throughout the Cobra Kai trailer. In a rousing speech to his students, Kreese notes that good and evil don’t exist. This is interesting, considering that Kreese is most certainly the Big Bad of Cobra Kai. Additionally, we see shots of Johnny helping Miguel with his physical therapy. Daniel muses on his ironclad bond with Mr. Miyagi, and subsequently, we see two characters from The Karate Kid Part II make an appearance.

My hope is that this story focuses on both Johnny and Daniel, but more so on the former. Daniel had three movies solely dedicated to his tale. Johnny is a much more intriguing character to me. Regardless, I’m so ready to ring in 2021 with Season Three.

You can check out the trailer below. Cobra Kai stars William Zabka, Ralph Macchio, Xolo Maridueña, Courtney Henggeler, Tanner BuchananMary MouserPeyton ListJacob BertrandGianni Decenzo and Martin Kove.
