The What We Do in the Shadows series, based on the mockumentary by the same name, is coming to FX this month. We have a new teaser that gives us some of the signature long, quiet awkwardness that we loved in the film.
Interviews are the focus in this teaser. We see Nandor (Kayvan Novak) sitting at a table talking about how he came to be in this place. It was a little Ottoman Empire, a little pillaging, a little of this, a little of that. Laszlo (Matt Berry) and Nadja (Natasia Demetriou) reminisce about how they met. You get a lot of the awkward quiet that helped make the film a hilarious look at how human the undead can be.
Taika Waititi and Jamaine Clement are running this adaptation of their blood-sucking baby. Waititi directed episodes. Clement wrote the show. And, we can’t wait for another version…. any version of their incredible and mundane world of monsters to come to television!
What We Do in the Shadows follows four vampires who’ve “lived” together for hundreds of years. After an unexpected visit from their dark lord and leader, they’re reminded of what they were initially tasked with upon their arrival in Staten Island over a hundred years ago – total and complete domination of the New World. But what exactly is the best way to go about achieving said domination?
What We Do in the Shadows premieres on FX on March 27.
