In two months time, we’ll be taken to the world of Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill). While there is a lot of anticipation surrounding the first season, fans of both the books and video game are just excited to see how things play out. With these new images, it just confirms that at least on the practical side of things, this show is going to fantastic.
We have three new stills, two of which show off Geralt. One shows him on his trusty steed Roach in the middle of the woods. The other shows him in a tavern, likely looking for payment or information on more witcher contracts. It’s being rumored that these images are set in the coastal town of Blaviken, where Geralt earned one of his famous nicknames – the Butcher of Blaviken.
The third still is the most fascinating. A villager is tentatively holding a hand out to a massive claw, seemingly a trophy taken in by Geralt for payment. While we’re unsure which monster this could be, it reminds me of a Griffon or Cockatrice foot. The image isn’t completely clear, but we can see that care was taken into the design of the prop. We know some of the monsters will be completely CGI, but hopefully we see a lot more practical effects like this.
Check out the stills below and let us know what you think. Be sure to come back to Geek Girl Authority for more fantasy news. The Witcher stars Henry Cavill, Anya Chalotra, Freya Allan, Jodhi May, Björn Hlynur Haraldsson, Adam Levy, MyAnna Buring, Mimi Ndiweni, Therica Wilson-Read and Emma Appleton. The monsters come out on Netflix in December 2019.
