The Force is with us all on this day, Star Wars fans! Today is Disney Investor Day and, amid the four-hour-long meeting, massive new projects have been announced. Here’s what we know so far about some upcoming Star Wars content:

Ahsoka Tano is getting a spinoff!

Praise be! I was hoping Ahsoka Tano would get her due. Disney Plus is finally granting her a chance to shine, as reported by Deadline. Rosario Dawson will reprise the role she famously portrayed in The Mandalorian Season Two. Head of Lucasfilm, Kathleen Kennedy, revealed the exciting news during Disney Investor Day. The show will simply be titled Ahsoka. It’ll be set within The Mandalorian timeline. Speaking of The Mandalorian

A little birdie told us (Deadline) that Mando will return for Season Three and more galactic antics in December of 2021!

But that’s not all!

Another spinoff of The Mandalorian is also coming to fruition: The Rangers of the New Republic. This series will be set in the same timeline. According to Entertainment Weekly, Kennedy hinted that these shows will connect a la the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Everything is connected! Here’s what she had to say:

Set within the timeline of The Mandalorian, these interconnected shows will excite new audiences and embrace our most passionate fans and will culminate in a climactic story event.

Still of Rosario Dawson as Ahsoka Tano in The Mandalorian, a Star Wars property.

We’ve got a title for the Cassian Andor series!

And, like Ahsoka, it’s simple yet effective. Andor, starring Diego Luna, will focus on Cassian’s life prior to Rogue One (for obvious reasons). Rumors around the water cooler are that Andor commenced production in London two weeks ago. Andor stars Diego Luna, Stellan Skarsgård, Adria Arjona, Fiona Shaw, Denise Gough, Carl Staller and Genevieve O’Reilly. Alan Tudyk will reprise his role from Rogue One as K-2SO. The series will be available to stream on Disney Plus in 2022.

But wait … there’s more!

Disney Plus continues to feed us Star Wars-hungry fans with exciting news aplenty. Wonder Woman director Patty Jenkins will helm a feature entitled Star Wars: Rogue Squadron, according to EW. Jenkins, in my humble opinion, is the perfect fit to direct such a project. Kennedy chimed in with this regarding the film:

It will introduce a new generation of Star Wars pilots as they earn their wings and risk their lives in a boundary-pushing high-speed thrill ride.

EW reported that this is the first Star Wars movie spearheaded by a woman. Huzzah! The film is slated to release around Christmas in 2023.

Lando is back!

Yes, you read that correctly. This is probably my favorite news of the night. Lando Calrissian is getting his own show on Disney Plus! Dear White People‘s Justin Simien will develop the project. EW reports that it’s unclear whether Billy Dee Williams, who starred in the original Star Wars trilogy, or Donald Glover (Solo: A Star Wars Story) will hold the title role. The latter makes more sense if Simien and Disney want to focus on young Lando. However, I’d be amenable to an older Lando series with Williams.

Even R2D2 and C-3PO are getting some love!

Your favorite droids will star in the animated series called A Droid Story, Deadline reports. Disney Plus is developing the project, naturally. R2D2 and C-3PO will get their time in the limelight. Kennedy noted about the impending series:

As we continue to develop new stories, the intersection of animation of visual effects, offers new opportunities for us to explore. This epic journey will introduce is to new hero guided by our most iconic duo … on a secret mission known only to them. What could possibly go wrong?

Star Wars: Rangers of the New Republic

Remember that Leslye Headland project?

Headland will be at the helm for a new Star Wars series entitled The Acolyte. This is the premise, according to Disney Plus’ official Twitter account

The Acolyte is a mystery-thriller that will take viewers into a galaxy of shadowy secrets and emerging dark-side powers in the final days of the High Republic era.

A mystery thriller set in the Star Wars universe? Yes, please!

One last thing before you go:

Here’s a teaser for a new animated series, Star Wars: The Bad Batch

Phew! That’s a whole lot of Star Wars! What are you most excited to see on Disney Plus? Sound off in the comments below!
