We are about a month out from the January 23rd series premiere of Star Trek: Picard. The wait has been agonizing. However, a new teaser dropped today that expands the mystery of the series and it will certainly enhance your anticipation.

In the new teaser for Star Trek: Picard, Jean-Luc Picard (Patrick Stewart) says “I was haunted by my past. But now, I have a mission. I will do what needs to be done.” We see him in what may be a flashback. He is on what I think is Enterprise’s Ten Forward while a planet burns outside the windows. Is the planet Romulus? Or is it Mars? I only say Mars because the episode of Star Trek: Short Treks that is to be a prequel of sorts to Star Trek: Picard and is being released before the new series premieres is called “Children of Mars“.

Then we see a series of edge of your seat footage including badass 7 of 9 walking and blasting two phasers, Picard stating he’s looking for “someone who has nowhere else to help her” – and we see that someone, Dahj (Isa Briones), fighting for her life. We also see the Borg, a Romulan (who honestly looks like he could be from Rivendell), a space battle and a whole slew of familiar characters ending with Riker (Jonathan Frakes) asking his former captain, “What have you gotten yourself into, Jean-Luc.”

Check out the Star Trek: Picard teaser below and set your internal phasers to excitement!

Star Trek: Picard features Sir Patrick Stewart reprising his iconic role as Jean-Luc Picard, which he played for seven seasons on Star Trek: The Next Generation. The new series will follow this iconic character into the next chapter of his life.

The series is produced by CBS Television Studios in association with Secret Hideout and Roddenberry Entertainment. Alex Kurtzman, Michael Chabon, Akiva Goldsman, James Duff, Patrick Stewart, Heather Kadin, Rod Roddenberry, and Trevor Roth serve as executive producers and Aaron Baiers (Secret Hideout) serves as co-executive producer and Kirsten Beyer as supervising producer. Hanelle Culpepper will direct the first two episodes of the series. ~CBS All Access
