What’s New on TV This Week (Apr 13 – 19)

Welcome to another edition of What’s New on TV. This week, a world-renowned video game show is back on HBO for its second season. Get ready because things are about to get good.

An ex-convict is the main character on Apple TV+’s Government Cheese. David Thewlis becomes the main man on a new CW show. And Elliot Stabler is back to organize more crime.

Some exciting series, including some that have changed networks for their new seasons, are premiering this week. Here’s what’s new on TV for April 13-19.

NEW ON TV, APRIL 13-19

April 13 – The Last of Us

The Last of Us‘s popularity grew extremely fast with Season 1, and now fans can enjoy the second season. This next season will focus on adapting The Last of Us: Part II, which was released in 2020. The show will find Joel (Pedro Pascal) and Ellie (Bella Ramsey) right after he rescued her from the Firefly hospital. The season will focus on the pursuit of justice at any cost.

The Last of Us Season 2 premieres Sunday, April 13 at 9/8c on HBO.

April 15 – The Glass Dome

If crime shows are your thing, Netflix’s newest limited series might be right up your alley. The Glass Dome follows a criminologist as her friend’s daughter goes missing. She teams up with a former police chief to look into this disappearance in a Swedish town. The problem is she now has to face her own trauma as she was held captive in the same time when she was a child.

The Glass Dome premieres Tuesday, April 15 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

April 16 – Government Cheese

David Oyelowo, Simone Missick and Jean-Michel Richaud are the leading cast of Government Cheese. The series follows Hamptom Chambers after he is released from prison. His goal is to leave behind his criminal past and reunite with his family. As he focuses on this, he realizes there are moments of divine intervention helping guide his path.

Government Cheese premieres Wednesday, April 16 at Midnight/11c on Apple TV+.

April 16 – No Man’s Land

No Man’s Land Season 2 will focus on the ongoing civil war in Syria and how the main characters struggle with it. Mélanie Thierry, Souheila Yacoub and James Krishna Floyd are back this season to continue exploring the stories of Anna, Sarya and Nasser.

No Man’s Land Season 2 premieres Wednesday, April 16 at Midnight/11c on Hulu.

April 16 – Sherlock & Daughter

David Thewlis becomes the famous detective Sherlock Holmes for Sherlock & Daughter. As he investigates a new case that might put his closest friends at risk, he is met with the realization that he might have a daughter. Amelia, played by Blu Hunt, is faced with her mother’s mysterious murder when she begins to suspect her father might be a well-known detective.

Sherlock & Daughter premieres Wednesday, April 16 at 9/8c on The CW.

April 17 – Law & Order: Organized Crime

While Law & Order and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit continue their journey on NBC, Law & Order: Organized Crime has moved its fifth season to Peacock. Now, viewers can stream the show early on Thursdays instead of waiting until the evening for it to be live. This new season finds the detectives focusing on a cross-border smuggling ring while Stabler faces his Roman past.

Law & Order: Organized Crime Season 5 premieres Thursday, April 17 at 3/2 am on Peacock.

April 17 – Leverage: Redemption

Just like Law & Order: Organized CrimeLeverage: Redemption also found a new home for its third season. Now, viewers can enjoy the show on Prime Video. The newest season finds Sophie, Elio, Parker, Hardison, Breanna and Harry fighting a power broker who is stealing clean water from people, a mayor who controls a small town, and a mark who has caught up with them. Gina Bellman, Christian Kane, Beth Riesgraf, Aldis Hodge, Aleyse Shannon and Noah Wyle are back this season.

Leverage: Redemption Season 3 premieres Thursday, April 17 at 3/2 am on Prime Video.

April 17 – Ransom Canyon

Staten Kirkland is the only occupant of the Double K Ranch. He is working through the grief of losing his wife when he finds himself in charge of resisting the forces that threaten to change his life and the land he owns. Josh Duhamel, Mina Kelly, James Brolin, Marianly Tejada, Jack Schumacher, Eoin Macken and Lizzy Greene are the cast of Netflix’s Ransom Canyon

Ransom Canyon premieres Thursday, April 17 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

April 18 – iHostage

Netflix brings true events to the screen in their newest movie, iHostage. The film tells the story of how a gunman in Amsterdam entered an Apple Store. It follows the police as they try to find a way to resolve the situation with as few casualties as possible.

iHostage premieres Friday, April 18 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

April 18 – Jane

Jane Season 3 continues to explore the adventures of Jane, David and Greybeard the chimpanzee. The trio focuses on saving endangered animals as Jane goes after her dream of becoming an environmentalist like her idol Dr. Jane Goodall. The show’s goal is to encourage young people to embrace their curiosity and compassion for animals and nature.

Jane Season 3 premieres Friday, April 18 at Midnight/11c on Apple TV+.

April 19 – Journey to You

A couple walking a path with a teenage boy and other people behind them.

Monica’s mom has always urged her to walk the Camino de Santiago but she’s never had time because of work. After her job skips her for a promotion, Monica decides to follow her mom’s advice and walk the Camino. Along the way, she comes to terms with who she is as she finds romance. Erin Cahill and Erik Valdez lead Hallmark’s Journey to You.

Journey to You premieres Saturday, April 19 at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel.
