WB unleashes their next big DC film, Suicide Squad, in August — about three months away now. To say that it is their last great hope, due to the critical failure of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, would be an understatement. Warner Bros. needs Suicide Squad to be a success, both commercially and critically, to reignite the public and faith interest in what they’re doing with that franchise and they are turning up the marketing engine to full power.
Today saw the release of two new sets of photos — two new magazine covers for Teaser and five new posters for the film. There seems to be a heavy focus on The Joker, Harley Quinn, and just the team in general, so it’s clear who the studio feels will be the break out characters. This tracks pretty well with the news from last week that Warners is already signed on to do a Harley Quinn spin-off film and is considering a Joker spin-off as well.
