Welcome to another edition of What’s New on TV. This week, Elliot Wolf continues the family tradition of bringing procedural shows to the screen. Get ready because things are about to get good.

Abbott Elementary meets It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia in the long-awaited crossover. Chicago Med keeps fans on the edge of their seats as one of their own is in danger. And The Rookie comes back for Season 7.

Some exciting series, several returning to air the remaining episodes of their season, are premiering this week. Here’s what’s new on TV for January 5-11.

NEW ON TV, JANUARY 5-11

January 5 – Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches

Alexandra Daddario is back leading the cast of Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches for the second season. The first episode will follow Rowan Mayfair trying to understand what has become of Lasher while Sip tries to capture him.

Anne Rice’s Mayfair Witches Season 2 premieres Sunday, January 5 at 9/8c on AMC.

January 5 – When Calls the Heart

If keeping a show going for several seasons is a difficult task, Hallmark Channel proves they can do the impossible with When Calls the Heart. The show returns for Season 12 this week as Elizabeth receives a surprise right before Little Jack’s first school day. Meanwhile, Nathan is focused on training a new Mountie cadet, and Rosemary and Lee make decisions that will change their lives.

When Calls the Heart Season 12 premieres Sunday, January 5 at 9/8c on Hallmark.

January 6 – My Happy Marriage

If you’re an anime fan and looking forward to starting the year on a good note, this week will do the trick, as Netflix is premiering the second season of My Happy Marriage. The show continues to follow the story of Miyo Saimori after she marries Kiyoka Kuodu. The couple will continue to explore their love and the power they have together.

My Happy Marriage Season 2 premieres Monday, January 6 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

January 6 – Brilliant Minds

Zachary Quinto and the rest of the cast return for the second half of the first season of Brilliant Minds. Season 1 Episode 12 focuses on Dr. Wolf and his team as they deal with a collapsed apartment in the Bronx. The second half of the season returns on a high note, presenting the team’s biggest challenge yet.

Brilliant Minds Season 1 returns Monday, January 6 at 10/9c on NBC.

January 7 – Will Trent

Unlike the rest of the shows coming back to premiere the rest of their ongoing seasons, Will Trent returns this week with the premiere of its third season. Ramon Rodriguez continues to lead the way as Special Agent Will Trent. On the first episode of the season, the GBI must find Will Trent after he left town in order to help solve the case in which two off-duty copes are wounded. As the case develops, Will is forced to clear his friend’s name and deal with the corruption surrounding him.

Will Trent Season 3 premieres Tuesday, January 7 at 8/7c on ABC.

January 7 – High Potential

Kaitlin Olson and Daniel Sunjata are back to finish out the first season of High Potential. Season 1 Episode 8 will focus on the investigation surrounding a young girl who was attacked at the beach. Meanwhile, Morgan goes on a date with Tom, and Soto comes closer to discovering what happened to Roman.

High Potential Season 1 returns Tuesday, January 7 at 9/8c on ABC.

January 7 – The Irrational

This week, Jesse L. Martin is back leading the second half of The Irrational Season 2. Marisa and Rose take over the case of a missing tennis player in a remote forest. Even though Alec is supposed to lead the case, a medical emergency takes his attention away, threatening to jeopardize the investigation.

The Irrational Season 2 returns Tuesday, January 7 at 10/9c on NBC.

January 7 – The Rookie

The Rookie fans will be happy to know the show is returning for its seventh season this week. The first episode will follow John as two new rookies are added to the team. Meanwhile, they must focus on the persecution of two dangerous inmates who have recently escaped prison with personal vendettas.

The Rookie Season 7 premieres Tuesday, January 7 at 10/9c on ABC.

January 8 – One Chicago

The One Chicago fans were waiting for the return of this franchise on the edge of their seats after Chicago Med went on hiatus, leaving an injured Goodwin near death. As the show returns, the team will fight to save her life while Asher helps a pregnant patient deal with an ectopic pregnancy. Chicago Fire will focus on Cruz as part of his past comes back to haunt him. Chicago P.D. gives newbie Cook attention as she turns to her family when the Intelligence Unit faces several challenges in solving a kidnapping investigation.

One Chicago returns Wednesday, January 8, with Chicago Med at 8/7c, Chicago Fire at 9/8c and Chicago P.D. at 10/9c on NBC.

January 8 – Abbott Elementary

The long-awaited and highly-anticipated crossover between Abbott Elementary and It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia crossover is happening this week. The school district sends a group of volunteers to help out at school. However, nothing goes as planned when they arrive.

Abbott Elementary Season 4 returns Wednesday, January 8 at 8:30/7:30c on ABC.

January 9 – On Call

Elliot Wolf follows in his father’s footsteps, bringing a procedural show to Prime Video in the hands of Pretty Little Liars alumni Troian Bellisario. Bellisario will be joined by Brandon Larracuente, Lori Loughlin and Eriq La Salle. The show follows the duo of a rookie and a veteran patrol officer in Long Beach, California. Each episode will dive into the challenges they face as they serve their community.

On Call premieres Thursday, January 9 at 3/2 am on Prime Video.

January 9 – The Pitt

Noah Wyle is stepping back into his medical shoes for The Pitt as he plays Dr. Michael Robinavitch. Max’s newest show will give viewers a more realistic perspective of the challenges healthcare workers face in the US. The series will focus on the day-to-day obstacles doctors face in a Pittsburgh hospital.

The Pitt premieres Thursday, January 9 at 3/2 am on MAX.

January 9 – American Primeval

If limited series are your thing, Netflix is bringing a new one to the screen this week. American Primeval tells the story of a mother and son running away from their past. As they do so, they create their own family to help confront the reality of the freedom and cruelty in the American West.

American Primeval premieres Thursday, January 9 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

January 10 – Goosebumps

The Goosebumps universe continues to grow as Disney+’s series returns for Season 2. This week, the show premieres two new episodes. The first focuses on fraternal twins adjusting to living with their recently divorced dad, Anthony. However, things take a turn when they discover a threat and find themselves entangled with the story of four teenagers who disappeared in 1994. The second episode will focus on Anthony’s research as Trey breaks into his lab and unleashes unexpected horrors.

Goosebumps Season 2 premieres Friday, January 10 at 3/2 am on Disney+ and Hulu.

January 11 – Sakamoto Days

Anime fans will be happy to know Netflix keeps the content coming with the premiere of Sakamoto Days. This series tells the story of Taro Sakamoto, a former talented hitman who retires for love. However, even though he thinks his past is behind him, it catches up to him, and he must fight it if he wants to keep his family safe.

Sakamoto Days premieres Saturday, January 11 at 3/2 am on Netflix.
