Welcome to another edition of What’s New on TV. This week, award-winning actors step into new roles on major streaming platforms. Get ready because things are about to get good.
Richard Gere and Michael Fassbender lead the cast of The Agency. Jamie Lee Curtis produces and guest stars in Margo Martindale’s new Prime Video show, The Sticky. Plus, plenty of seasonal offerings including Brian Cox brings Santa Claus to life in That Christmas.
Some exciting series are premiering this week, including one based on a famous novel. Here’s what’s new on TV for December 1-7.
NEW ON TV, DECEMBER 1-7
December 1 – The Agency
Richard Gere and Michael Fassbender are joined by Jeffrey Wright, Katherine Waterston and John Magaro on The Agency. The series follows a covert CIA who must leave his undercover life in order to return to London Station. Things get complicated when the love he left behind comes back into his life.
The Agency premieres its first two episodes Sunday, December 1 at 9/8c on Showtime and Paramount+.

December 1 – Earth Abides
If you like watching books turned into TV shows, Earth Abides is the perfect new series for you. This limited series is based on George R. Stewart’s novel and follows the life of Isherwood Williams. Ish discovers that after months of isolation, the world has fallen to a mysterious illness. Now, he leads the way to create a new civilization.
Earth Abides premieres Sunday, December 1 at 9/8c on MGM+.
December 2 – Dalgliesh
After the gruesome murder of a senior churchman, Dalgliesh visits the West Sussex seminar to investigate what happened. As the investigation goes on, he discovers most people in the seminar had issues with the victim and are lying about what they did or didn’t do.
Dalgliesh Season 3 premieres Monday, December 2 at 3/2 am on Acorn TV.
December 2 – Star Wars: Skeleton Crew
The Star Wars franchise continues to grow. This time the baton is passed to Jude Law, Ryan Kiera Armstrong and Kerry Condo with Star Wars: Skeleton Crew. This new Disney+ series tells the story of four kids who make a mysterious discovery. Even though they believed their home planet safe, they now find themselves on a dangerous journey through the galaxy, crossing paths with allies and enemies.

Star Wars: Skeleton Crew premieres Tuesday, December 2 at 9/8c on Disney+.
December 4 – Churchill at War
In recent years, Netflix documentaries have become extremely popular among viewers. This week, the streaming platform premieres a new docuseries about Winston Churchill. Each episode will explore his role during World War II and why many consider him the ideal leader for that era.
Churchill at War premieres Wednesday, December 4 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

December 4 – The Only Girl in the Orchestra
Another Netflix documentary premiering this week is The Only Girl in the Orchestra, which discusses one of the New York Philharmonic’s first major changes. The documentary tells the story of Orin O’Brien, a double bassist, who was the first woman to become a full-time member of the Philharmonic.
The Only Girl in the Orchestra premieres Wednesday, December 4 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

December 4 – That Christmas
If you are among the Succession fans who quickly realized it was Brian Cox’s voice in the McDonald’s ads, you will be quick to recognize him as Santa Claus in the holiday film, That Christmas. Cox is joined by Bill Nighy as Lighthouse Bill, Fiona Shaw as Miss Trapper and Rhys Darby as Mr. McNutt. This animated movie tells the story of the Wellington-on-Sea townsfolk as their Christmas plans get messed up by the worst snowstorm in the town’s history.
That Christmas premieres Wednesday, December 4 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

December 5 – Black Doves
Keira Knightley leads the cast of Netflix’s Black Doves alongside Ben Whishaw and Sarah Lancashire. The show tells the story of Helen, a spy posing as a politician’s wife, who discovers her lover has been murdered in the London underworld. To find out what happened to him (and claim revenge), Helen is joined by an old assassin friend who will help figure out the truth.
Black Doves premieres Thursday, December 5 at 3/2 am on Netflix.
December 5 – Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld
Jentry Chau discovers her firey powers the closer she gets to turning 16. As these suppressed powers come to life, she is forced to face her demons and navigate her new reality.
Jentry Chau vs. the Underworld premieres Thursday, December 5 at 3/2 am on Netflix.

December 6 – The Sticky
Jamie Lee Curtis produces and guest stars in Prime Video’s newest limited series, The Sticky. Margo Martindale leads the cast as a syrup farmer who becomes a criminal when the bureaucratic authorities threaten everything she loves. To save herself and what she has built, the syrup farmer joins forces with a Bostonian mobster and a Frenc-Canadian security guard for the heist of a lifetime.
The Sticky premieres Friday, December 6 at Midnight/11c on Prime Video.

December 6 – Private Princess Christmas
The Queen of Wingravia decides her daughter’s privilege has become too much, so she must face an ultimatum to keep the throne and not lose it to her uncle. Princess Vi must attend a leadership boot camp in Colorado. There, she meets other cadets who are put through a rigorous life change under the supervision of Captain Ryan Douglas.
Private Princess Christmas premieres Friday, December 6 at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel.

December 7 – Sugarplummed
Maggie Lawson and Janel Parrish star in Sugarplummed. Emily dreams of creating the perfect Christmas to bring her family together, but every year, she feels she has failed. This year, she makes a wish that lands Sugarplum, a movie character, in her life. At first, Emily believes everything will work out thanks to Sugarplum movie-world rules. However, things begin to backfire, making Emily doubt herself.
Sugarplummed premieres Saturday, December 7 at 8/7c on Hallmark Channel.
December 7 – A Very Merry Beauty Salon
Divine Beauty Salon’s owner will be honored during Atlanta’s Tinsel Ball for her charity work in the community. She immediately feels the spark between her and the CEO of a wine brand sponsoring the ball. However, her mother believes the CEO’s presence will ruin the ball’s traditions. Can they make their love work?
A Very Merry Beauty Salon premieres Saturday, December 7 at 8/7c on Lifetime.
