New Images of Elizabeth Banks as Rita Repulsa from the POWER RANGERS Movie

Wow! 3 new images of Rita Repulsa emerged on the official Power Rangers Movie Facebook and they are stunning. Elizabeth Banks will be playing the famous villain in the new film and it’s a completely different look!

When the Power Rangers were adapted for American audiences, the original production, Kyōryū Sentai Zyuranger, had the character of Majo Bandōra or Witch Bandora. Producers took footage of Witch Bandora and made her Rita Repulsa, the main antagonist for the first season of Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers.

With this new incarnation coming out, her outfit may reveal who or what she was prior to becoming Repulsa. The promotional images of the suits look striking similar to Repulsa’s torn up outfit. Is it possible that she was a ranger herself at one point? We won’t know until the movie comes out, but personally I think it’s a very strong possibility! Along with the images, the official Facebook page and official Twitter were posting #RepulsaTakesOver. Rita was replying to fan comments with her own witty remarks. One thing was telling, it’s said she was locked up for 65 million years, but now she’s free. 65 million years? Is that when the rangers first came to be and why they use dino power? Did she kill her fellow rangers & go mad? So many questions, so little answers! We’ll just have to wait and see.
