Hulu has made Margaret Atwood’s The Handmaid’s Tale into a series.  It premieres in April.  And, I am convinced that it is going to be completely amazing.

A new official trailer for the Hulu series was released today that gives us a closer look at the world of The Handmaid’s Tale.  Elisabeth Moss‘s Offred is already compelling.  Offered is a strong, tortured, haunting character and Moss is nailing it in the TRAILER, y’all!

The trailer gives us more context, and a better look at the aesthetic of the show, which looks appropriately beautiful and brutal.  Gilead is a harsh place that we almost recognize where ‘better never means better for everyone’.  It’s a terrifying dystopian future that we all hope we only see in fiction.  And, I can’t wait to see it in fiction!

The Handmaid’s Tale premieres April 26th on Hulu.  Join me in devouring it, won’t you?

Hulu’s description, for your perusal. Adapted from the classic novel by Margaret Atwood, The Handmaid’s Tale is the story of life in the dystopia of Gilead, a totalitarian society in what was formerly the United States. Facing environmental disasters and a plunging birthrate, Gilead is ruled by a twisted fundamentalism in its militarized ‘return to traditional values’. As one of the few remaining fertile women, Offred (Elisabeth Moss) is a Handmaid in the Commander’s household, one of the caste of women forced into sexual servitude as a last desperate attempt to repopulate the world. In this terrifying society, Offred must navigate between Commanders, their cruel Wives, domestic Marthas, and her fellow Handmaids – where anyone could be a spy for Gilead – all with one goal: to survive and find the daughter that was taken from her.
