Think you know the story of Hansel and Gretel? Well, think again. Director Oz Perkins offers a new twist to the well known fairy tale in the trailer for his upcoming movie, Gretel & Hansel. While this certainly isn’t the first movie inspired by the 1812 German tale, it appears to be one of the more darker adaptions.

The two minute trailer doesn’t give too much away beyond the familiar plot; a sister (Sophia Lillis) and brother (Sammy Leakey) are forced to fend for themselves for some unknown reason. These circumstances eventually leads them to some nearby woods. This is where they discover an old woman (Alice Krige) living alone in a cozy looking cabin. What first seems like a turn of their luck quickly turns to a fight for survival as young Hansel falls in the clutches of pure evil.
