Fargo season 3 is about to bumble it’s way into our living rooms, and no one is more excited than I am. FX has released three promos to whet our appetites. They are short, they are strange, they are silly and they are perfectly Coen Brothers.
The promos don’t tell us much. Carrie Coon finds an air conditioner in the middle of an icy road and has some trouble navigating the grocery store door. Ewan McGregor licks a stamp. The absurdity abounds, and the images and interactions invoke all of the things we’ve come to expect from the series.
Carrie Coon, Mary Elizabeth Winstead, Ewan McGregor, Michael Stuhlbarg and Jim Gaffigan will star in the new season. Coon plays Gloria Burgle, chief of police. Gaffigan is cast as her deputy. Ewan McGregor will play Ray AND Emmit Stussy, brothers who have gone on separate paths. Emmit is described as the parking lot king of Minnesota. Ray may be more of a cautionary tale with a parolee girlfriend played by Winstead.
Given the success of the previous two seasons, we can reasonably expect that this one will deliver the dark, ridiculous, awkward and absurd consequences that occur when regular people make bad decisions. I’ll be watching.
Here’s what FX says…
From Creator Noah Hawley, the new installment of Fargo is an all-new “true crime” tale starring Ewan McGregor in dual roles as Emmit Stussy and his slightly younger brother Ray. Their sibling rivalry leads to a twisted path that begins with petty theft but soon leads to murder, mobsters and cutthroat competitive bridge. Fargo will premiere April 2017 on FX.
Fargo will premiere April 19.
