According to KSiteTV, the companion has become the Time Lord. Arthur Darvill, who played Rory Williams on Doctor Who along with Karen Gillen and Matt Smith, will take on the role of DC’s very own time lord, Rip Hunter in CW’s as-yet untitled new show that will also star Brandon Routh, Caity Lotz, Victor Garber, Wentworth Miller, and Dominic Purcell.

To be clear, Rip isn’t an actual time lord, but he is one of a handful of characters who’s entire story revolves around time travel. The site describes him as “a roguish time traveler who hides the strains of being responsible for history itself behind a facade of charm and wit.”

Rip Hunter is also a consistent ally to another time traveling hero, Booster Gold, who the Arrow/Flash producers have always said they wanted to bring into the CW-verse, so this could be their way of doing that.

This also plays in very well into what Barry Allen is currently enduring on The Flash, having just recently gone back in time himself. Perhaps Barry’s mistakes here end up sending large scale reverberations through the time stream, causing Rip to travel to Barry’s present and put together a team to piece everything back together, leading to a team like Time Masters or Challengers of the Unknown.

Also, more news out on the CW show, Deadline is reporting that they’ve cast Ciara Renee as Kendra Saunders aka Hawkgirl. She is described as “a young woman who is just beginning to learn that she has been repeatedly reincarnated over the centuries. When provoked, her ancient warrior persona manifests itself, along with wings that grow out of her back, earning her the moniker Hawkgirl.”

The site goes on to speculate that she will not be a recurring character.
