The Mis-Arrangement of Sana Saeed by Noreen Mughees
“It is a truth universally acknowledged that a single Desi woman, in want of getting her nagging mom off her back, must eventually settle for the most boringly eligible rishta alive.”
Sana Saeed, a 33-year-old hijabi, abandoned her dreams of love in favor of her responsibilities. To become her autistic brother Zia’s guardian, her parents declare she must get married, leading her to agree to an arranged marriage. However, when her childhood friend Daniel Malik reappears in her life as her new boss, their unexpected partnership on a high-stakes case at work complicates matters and challenges their roles as “good desi children.”
The Mis-Arrangement of Sana Saeed references Bollywood and Pakistani stars right along with Western classics like Pride and Prejudice. Full of recognizable drama tropes and intergenerational relationships, Noreen Mughees’ new book release is a serious, grounded romance.

Wrath Becomes Her by Aden Polydoros
In 1943 Lithuania, a grieving father uses dark magic to create a golem, Vera, in the image of his daughter who Nazis killed. Despite her role as a creature of vengeance, as Vera awakens, she grapples with her violent purpose and the conflicting memories of a stolen human life. Her memories, however, are not her own. As Vera encounters others who misuse magic for dark intentions, she must find a reason to fight and live beyond her initial purpose.
Incorporating magical realism and Jewish folklore into war-torn Lithuania, Wrath Becomes Her has a truly unique premise. Check out Aden Polydoros’ new book for a harrowing twist on Frankenstein and real-life history.

The Bell in the Fog is the sequel to 2022’s Lavender House. While it’s slower-paced than its predecessor, Lev AC Rosen’s follow-up is just as mysterious and tightly woven.
Brooms by Jasmine Walls
Magic is restricted in 1930s Mississippi, and unsanctioned broom racing is definitely forbidden. But the Night Storms racing team is determined to earn enough money to move to a state where Black people can legally use magic. While navigating family expectations and evading government capture, the Night Storms strive to pursue their freedom in a society that restricts their magic and desires.
Described as a queer, witchy Fast and the Furious, Brooms is a gorgeous YA graphic novel. Jasmine Walls’ characters are fully realized and unique, and she shines a light on history not often told.
