The covers of three new book releases coming out on November 11: Deadly Animals, Her Knight at the Museum, and The Courting of Bristol Keats

There are a lot of new books coming out every week. With New Release Radar, I’ll help you narrow down the week’s new book releases into the titles you should get excited about. This week, I have nine books to share, with plenty of rom coms, mysteries and late fall scares. Read on!

All’s Fair in Love and Treachery by Celeste Connally

Lady Petra Forsyth’s world turns upside down when she discovers her late fiancé’s death was murder, linked to her former lover, Duncan Shawcross, who has since vanished. To distract herself, Petra takes on a royal assignment from Queen Charlotte to investigate the suspicious death of a matron at an orphanage, which may have ties to a plot against the monarchy. With London celebrating Napoleon’s defeat and danger closing in, Petra races against time to unravel the conspiracy, protect vulnerable orphans, and confront her tumultuous past.

Bridgerton meets Agatha Christie in the second book in Celeste Connally’s Lady Petra Inquires series. All’s Fair in Love and Treachery picks up right where its predecessor left off for more whimsical Regency charm.

Her Knight at the Museum by Bryn Donovan

Sir Griffin de Beauford is under a curse. He’s suffered centuries trapped in stone, able to hear, see and think but not to speak or move. When Emily Porter, a recently divorced conservator, takes on the restoration of a statue of an English knight, she never thought the job would include breaking a curse. As the man of her dreams comes to life, the two fall in love. But will the complications of the modern world be enough to keep them apart?

The premise of Her Knight at the Museum may sound ridiculous, but it’s just right for anyone that loves a Hallmark movie. Bryn Donovan’s new book release is the perfect escape.

The Color of Revenge by Cornelia Funke

The cover of Inkworld: The Color of Revenge has three silhouettes. In the center is a man with glasses and a pen. On his right is a figure with a sword, and on his left a man with a flame in his hand and an animal on his shoulder. Below all three is an open book.

Originally scheduled for October 15, 2024 release

Five years after Inkdeath, peace has returned to Ombra. There, Meggie, Mo, Dustfinger, and the others enjoy a happy, carefree life. But for Orpheus, who fled north, life has been a struggle, sustained only by his desire for revenge against those who wronged him. Now, Orpheus is willing to wield the darkest magic to achieve his goal. As Dustfinger’s worst fears come to life, he must confront whether he still holds power over the words, or if the images now hold power over him.

The original Inkheart books were my obsession as a kid, so I couldn’t believe it when Cornelia Funke announced a sequel. The Color Of Revenge has been out in German since 2023, but this is the first chance for English readers to savor the new story.

Pickleballers by Ilana Long

After a dramatic breakup, Meg Bloomburg heads to Bainbridge Island for a pickleball-themed escape with her best friend. Instead, she finds herself drawn to local consultant Ethan Fine, only to uncover he’s been undermining her turf. Ready to put herself first, Meg decides to reclaim her game – and maybe a fresh shot at love.

Is it possible that Pickleballers is the first pickle-ball themed romcom? Ilana Long’s adult debut is full of puns and banter, and even takes place where the actual sport debuted.

The Courting of Bristol Keats by Mary E. Pearson

After receiving mysterious letters from an aunt she’s never heard of, Bristol Keats learns her family’s past is filled with secrets. Most shocking of all? Her father may still be alive, trapped in a dangerous realm of gods and fae. Determined to rescue him, Bristol enters this magical world and strikes a risky deal with the fae king, Tyghan, unaware that he’s the one who forced her family into hiding. As their paths intertwine, both Bristol and Tyghan are intent on finding her father, but their motives clash in deadly ways.

Bestselling author Mary E. Pearson’s new book release is a thrilling romantic fantasy. The first book in a duology, The Courting of Bristol Keats is a return to form for a fantastic writer.

Leap by Simina Popescu

The cover of Leap has a pale pink background. A pale girl with red hair and bandaged feet is sitting next to and looking at a tan girl with straight dark hair.

Ana has lost her passion for contemporary dance in the midst of a closeted relationship with ambitious ballerina Carina. Meanwhile, Sara, a rising star encouraged by her mentor Marlena, is navigating new and complicated feelings toward her teacher. When Ana and Sara become roommates in their junior year, they form a deep friendship that becomes a source of strength, helping them navigate love, identity, and their artistic journeys.

Set at a dance school in Bucharest, Romania, Leap deals with the pressures of the dance world, sexual identities, coming of age and more. Simina Popescu’s prose and illustrations are perfect for fans of Tillie Walden’s Spinning.

I Am the Dark That Answers When You Call by Jamison Shea

After a traumatic incident at the Palais Garnier, Laure buries herself in self-destructive behavior. Her spiral is interrupted when she stumbles upon a body that reveals a spreading darkness beneath Paris. The mystical realm of Elysium is decaying, with monstrous forces from Acheron and Lethe seeping into the city. As an army of creatures rises, Laure and her fellow “monsters” must confront their own inner battles and the looming threat of oblivion, racing to save both themselves and Elysium from total collapse.

NPR described Jamison Shea’s debut I Feed Her to the Beast and the Beast is Me as “relentlessly gory and almost euphoric in its embrace of the horrific.” I Am the Dark That Answers When You Call is more of the same in the best way, with the horror and lore dialed up to the extreme.

Deadly Animals by Marie Tierney

14-year-old Ava Bonney, fascinated by decomposition, spends her nights studying roadkill in secret. But when she discovers her classmate’s body, her quiet obsession takes a dark turn. Soon, more teenagers start disappearing in her small town. Caught between fear and curiosity, Ava finds herself entwined in Detective Seth Delahaye’s investigation, determined to uncover the truth before more lives are lost.

Another debut novel releasing this week, Deadly Animals is a story of precocious characters and a spooky 1980s setting. Marie Tierney’s new book release is a unique take on the YA thriller.

We Shall Be Monsters by Alyssa Wees

The cover of We Shall Be Monsters has intricate floral and skull designs around a mirrored motif on a dark background.

Gemma lives with her mother in a secluded antique shop, near a forest that hides a gateway to fairyland. Despite her mother’s warnings about the dangerous monsters there, Gemma ventures into the woods and uncovers a dark family secret. Her father isn’t merely missing; a witch transformed him into a beast before Gemma’s birth. When the witch behind the curse kidnaps her mother, Gemma must journey into the dangerous Fae realm to rescue her mother and break the curse before it’s too late.

Alternating points of view between Gemma and her mother, We Shall Be Monsters is a darkly lyrical fantasy tale. Alyssa Wees’ new book release is a true fairytale meant for fans of T. Kingfisher and Ava Reid.
