Going Bicoastal by Dahlia Adler
Natalya Fox has a big decision to make and only 24 hours to do it. Should she stay in New York for the summer with her dad and the girl of her dreams, or spend it with her estranged mom in LA and attempt to fix their relationship? Natalya has to choose — but the reader doesn’t. Natalya’s different summers play out in alternating chapters, switching back and forth between New York and LA in a fun and fast-paced style.

Going Bicoastal is a queer, sliding doors-style YA rom-com from superstar author Dahlia Adler. It has everything you could ask for in a summer read, from romance to humor to real emotional depth. It’s the perfect read for anyone that hates to compromise.
The Spectacular by Fiona Davis
19-year-old Marion knows being selected as one of the Rockettes is an honor. But it’s also much more demanding than she ever dreamed. There are four shows a day, exhausting rehearsals and impossible standards of perfection to live up to. When a bomb explodes in the theater, the latest in a series of explosions set by the Big Apple Bomber, Marion is sure she saw someone suspicious in the front row. Without any actual leads, the police turn to her for help. As she gets caught up in the investigation, Marion realizes that she might be putting herself and those she loves at terrifying risk.
Fiona Davis fans know she loves to set her books in historical buildings in New York City, and The Spectacular is no exception. She gives readers a vivid, entertaining backstage pass to Radio City Music Hall. This new book release is perfect for lovers of historical fiction, with a mystery element for good measure.

The First Bright Thing by J.R. Dawson
Ringmaster, or Rin, can jump through time. The circus she leads with her wife Odette is a haven for the magical misfits and outfits known as Sparks. The Troupe travels to the Midwest, hoping to offer a night of enchantment to people still reeling from World War I. But threats come from every side. Rin’s past threatens to creep closer, another war looms and another circus wants something Rin has, and their ringmaster won’t stop until it’s his.
Fans of Erin Morgenstern‘s The Night Circus will love this new book release. J.R. Dawson centers her novel on a queer found family and the importance of storytelling while warning against systems of oppression.
Maddalena and the Dark by Julia Fine
In 18th century Berlin, 17-year-old Luisa just wants to be the best violinist. As a student at the Ospedale della Pietà, she hopes to one day join its orchestra and train under Antonio Vivaldi. However, she is not the best and doesn’t even have friends until she meets Maddalena. The two bond quickly, but Maddelena has a dark secret. She’s been meeting a stranger at night to make wishes at an abandoned sea shrine, wishes that may change the course of both girls’ lives.
This lush, Gothic novel is almost a Venetian fairytale. Maddalena and the Dark centers on how relationships between young women can set them free or consume them entirely. Julia Fine’s third book is definitely one you’ll want to check out.

Love, Theoretically by Ali Hazelwood
By day, Elsie Hannaway works as an adjunct professor, teaching thermodynamics and hoping for tenure. But on other days, she offers her services as a fake girlfriend. Her people-pleasing skills allow her to embody whatever her clients need. When the attractive but brooding older brother of one of her clients turns out to be the experimental physicist who stands between Elsie and her dream job, her carefully crafted life threatens to come crashing down. She’s ready for an all-out, scholarly war, but she isn’t prepared to possibly fall in love.
Ali Hazelwood‘s The Love Hypothesis quickly became a TikTok sensation in 2021. Now she’s back with Love, Theoretically, cementing herself as a queen of STEM-themed romance. This is the perfect book to tuck in your bag for a beach vacation.
On Earth as It Is on Television by Emily Jane
What would you do when alien spaceships arrived over Earth – and disappeared almost immediately?
Blaine always did whatever his wife and children wanted. But when his children wonder whether they could skin people to determine whether or not they’re aliens and his wife plans a trip to Disney, he may not be able to stick things out much longer. Meanwhile, Heather wonders whether the Arrival will mean the demise of her dead-end relationship and a chance at finding meaning in the universe. And Oliver, suddenly awake after 20 years in a coma, struggles to figure out his past and future.

On Earth as It Is on Television is a wild, stream-of-consciousness look at first contact, the likes of which you’ve never seen. It sits somewhere between the silliness of The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy and the darkness of War of the Worlds, and it’s a debut you don’t want to miss.
The Surviving Sky by Kritika H. Rao
After Earth was ravaged by natural disasters, humanity took to the skies. Magic and science combine to keep cities afloat, and their architects are revered above all else. However, the wife of one of these architects feels her husband may be pushing his abilities to forbidden limits. As their floating city begins to plummet, the two must figure out how to save their marriage, culture and civilization.
Kritika H. Rao’s prose is both no-nonsense and beautiful. It’s hard to believe her new book release is actually her debut. The Surviving Sky is a unique take on the dystopian novel and one I’ve been looking forward to for a long time.
