There are a lot of new books coming out every week. With New Release Radar, I’ll help you narrow down the week’s new book releases into the titles you should get excited about. This time of year, however, is slim for new releases — everyone knows that booksellers are already up to their eyeballs in books and can barely handle any new ones. Regardless, I have four new titles to share with you and bonus special editions of older favorites perfect for gifting. Read on!
A Call To Cthulhu by Norm Konyu
Even eldritch gods hate answering the phone. When the Great Old One Cthulhu gets a phone call in the middle of the night, he’s woefully unprepared for what will happen.
Part comic book, part picture book, A Call To Cthulhu is a fun introduction to classic Lovecraftian horror. Norm Konyu’s fantastic art and rhymes will easily draw in fans and newcomers alike.

Retellings of the Hades and Persephone mythology are all the rage, and Her Dark Wings takes full advantage of this trend. Melinda Salisbury’s new book release explores grief and rage, proving light can’t exist without some shadows.
Seven Minutes in Candyland by Brian Wasson
Sophomore Kalvin Shmelton has turned his candy-selling side hustle into an art by staying out of high school drama. But when he inadvertently helps Sterling Glistern navigate her troubled relationship, he accidentally gains a reputation as a relationship therapist. Amidst challenges at home and an appearance from a jealous rival, Kal must reassess his understanding of friendship, family and love.
Seven Minutes in Candyland does a great job of addressing all the different types of relationships and their issues while telling a great story. Even though this new book is Brian Wasson’s debut, he handles heavy topics with grace and humor.
