Sci-fi and cyberpunk fans have long been excited about the upcoming Netflix series, Altered Carbon, based on the Richard K. Morgan book. And, if you’re one of them like I am, get ready to get even more amped! A new trailer was released Thursday that brings more action, exposition, mystery, adventure, color, and cool. It. Is. Awesome.
Joel Kinnaman (The Killing, House of Cards) stars. And, as Entertainment Weekly put it, plays an ‘elite soldier with a tragic past assigned a new body in future San Francisco.’ That about sums up the broad strokes, but there’s so much to dive into with this series. It’s all about ethics, murder, mystery, conspiracy, war and lust. Bring it.
The 10-episode series is the passion project of writer/producer Laeta Kalogridis. The pilot was directed by Emmy award-winning director Miguel Sapochnik, who Game of Thrones fans know for helming Battle of the Bastards.
Before you enjoy, keep in mind this trailer is most likely NSFW.
In the distant future, human consciousness can be digitized and downloaded into different bodies. Brought back to life after 250 years by Laurens Bancroft (James Purefoy) the richest man on Earth, ex-Envoy soldier Takeshi Kovacs (Joel Kinnaman / Will Yun Lee) must solve Bancroft’s attempted murder for the chance to live again in a world he doesn’t recognize.
Altered Carbon will start streaming on Netflix February 2, 2018.
