When J.J. Abrams and Bad Robot unleashed the surprise 10 Cloverfield Lane trailer upon the world, it was truly enigmatic. We were able to gather that three people survived the events from the first film, Cloverfield. We see three people in a bunker – living out their days playing puzzles, reading, enjoying the game Life. All while the song “I Think We’re Alone Now” plays. The bunker shakes, the music slows to a warped and tense pace, one of the bunker dwellers (John Goodman) proves to be a bad bunkmate, there’s some cabin fever, the bunker door is unlocked – Trailer ends. (See that trailer, here – it’s awesome!)
It was very apparent in the first trailer that the two other bunkmates, Mary Elizabeth Winstead and John Gallagher Jr. didn’t want to be there or were under some duress. Our suspicions are confirmed in this new trailer that was shown during Super Bowl 50. John Goodman did indeed save Winstead from the monsters but also made her prisoner. He claims he saved her from a chemical attack so as far as she knows, he could be lying. He is not a great host – but what’s worse? Living with a crazy captor or escaping into the “uninhabitable” outside environs. The very outside that was attacked by monsters which she doesn’t seem to know.
Take a look!
