School’s in session, that pumpkin spice drink is back at the coffee shop, and there’s a tantalizing tease of cooler temperatures to come. Fall is on its way. September 22nd marks the official beginning of the autumn season, so get those flannel shirts out, grab your flavored coffee, and let’s see what Netflix has in store for those comfortable days curled up on the couch with the windows open!
There is a lot coming to the streaming service this September, especially for the kids. Netflix Originals is bringing a new Skylanders Academy season and a second season of Stretch Armstrong and the Flex Fighters, but what has us super excited is the return of our Disney favorites, Emperor’s New Groove and Lilo & Stitch, and the debut of A Wrinkle in Time! There are also plenty of offerings for the kids at heart and the nerdy adults. Here are our top picks for this month and the full list of what is coming to Netflix in September:
Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time
Director Ava DuVernay tackled Madeline L’Engle’s popular children’s novel, A Wrinkle In Time, a favorite childhood book for many, and she did so with a star-studded cast! The rebooted film follows Meg Murry (Storm Reid), her brother Charles Wallace (Deric McCabe), and Calvin (Levi Miller), as they search for the missing Mr. Murry (Chris Pine). Their adventure across space and time is aided by Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling), Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey), and Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon). A Wrinkle In Time arrives on September 25th.

The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy
The book that taught us to never leave home without a towel got the silver screen treatment in 2005 and it is coming to Netflix! September 1st marks the ending of our planet (it’s for the betterment of the universe; a hyperspace express route is very much needed!) and the beginning of a grand adventure! Douglas Adams‘ novel, The Hitchhiker’s Guide to the Galaxy, comes to life at the hands of director Garth Jennings. Follow Arthur Dent (Martin Freeman) as he is whisked off planet for his safety and given the guide to the galaxy by alien-in-hiding Ford Prefect (Mos Def). Stephen Fry voices the guide and narrates the buddy comedy that also includes Sam Rockwell, Zooey Deshanel (The New Girl), and the voice talents of Alan Rickman (Harry Potter, Galaxy Quest).
Iron Fist (Season 2)
After what feels like a long break and a stint on The Defenders, Marvel‘s second season of Iron Fist is here! Ten more episodes drop on September 7th, bringing Danny Rand’s (Finn Jones) story back to the forefront. The show will take place after the events of The Defenders, but not much plot detail is known. Along with the return of Danny Rand / Iron Fist, Colleen Wing (Jessica Henwick), Misty Knight (Simone Missick), Joy Meachum (Jessica Stroup), and Ward Meachum (Tom Pelphrey) are coming back. A new villain, Typhoid Mary (Alice Eve), threatens the city. We are willing to give this second season a chance, especially with the new choreography work promised from Clayton Barber (Black Panther, Creed).

Black Panther
Undeniably the most celebrated Marvel film to date, Black Panther shattered records at the box office. The tale of Wakanda’s king and hero inspires us all and we are excited to have it coming to Netflix! There is a battle for the throne of Wakanda and the fate of the world could be at stake, not just the livelihood of the technology-rich nation. T’Challa (Chadwick Boseman) must defend his title as king from an outsider – Erik Killmonger (Michael B. Jordan) is Wakandan, but he was not raised among his people and he carries a chip on his shoulder over the treatment of his father. The phenomenal cast includes Lupita Nyong’o, Danai Gurira, Martin Freeman, Daniel Kaluuya, Letitia Wright, Winston Duke, Angela Bassett, Forest Whitaker, and Andy Serkis. Plan to cap off your Labor Day weekend with a Black Panther watching party; the movie comes to Netflix on September 4th!
