Hoodie weather has officially come my way to Texas! Well, at least in the mornings. But that means that it is time to break out the sweaters and hot chocolate (which most of the rest of the country has already been doing, I suppose) and make dates with the couch and Netflix!
There is a lot coming and a lot leaving the streaming service this month and we have the full list below so you can plan your binging accordingly. We also have a few new-to-Netflix suggestions for your date night or lazy weekend, including a family movie for the kiddos.
Charlotte’s Web
Charlotte’s Web is a live action take on EB White‘s novel of the same name. The children’s movie follows young pig Wilbur (Dominic Scott Kay) and a farm full of animals intent on helping the little oinker survive slaughter season. The spider Charlotte (Julia Roberts) becomes like a mother to Wilbur and it is her web spinning skills that bring local fame to the farm and shines a spotlight on the piglet. This children’s classic brings with it the voice talents of Steve Buscemi (Templeton the Rat), John Cleese (Samuel the Sheep), Oprah Winfrey (Gussy the Female Goose), Cedric the Entertainer (Golly The Male Goose), Kathy Bates (Bitsy the Cow), Reba McEntire (Betsy the Cow), Robert Redford (Ike the Horse), and stars a young Dakota Fanning as Fern Arable. Charlotte’s Web comes to Netflix on November 1st.

Men in Black
On the heels of his alien-busting in Independence Day, rapper and actor Will Smith co-starred in Men In Black alongside Tommy Lee Jones. The film, an instant classic for its humor as well as sci-fi draw, spawned two sequels, a cartoon, and included the above music video after the credits. The franchise recently announced a new film set for release in 2019. Smith plays James Edwards, an NYPD officer that gets recruited into the secret government agency, Men In Black (MiB), by Agent K (Jones). The MiB are in charge of keeping order with the aliens (creatures not from Earth) that live on the planet in human disguises. When there is a problem, like, say, a random space craft crash-landing in an open field or an alien traveling beyond the bounds of their agreed upon settlement location, the MiB step in. Though rated PG-13 (language and sci-fi violence), this is a film most of the family will love. The movie also stars Linda Fiorentino (Dr. Weaver), Vincent D’Onofrio (Edgar), Rip Torn (Agent Zed), and features the voice of Tim Blaney (Frank). Men in Black comes to Netflix on November 1st.

Alias Grace (Season 1)
Touted as a show that Handmaid’s Tale fans will love, Alias Grace follows Dr. Simon Jordan (Edward Holcroft) on his quest to interview Grace Marks (Sarah Gadon), an Irish immigrant servant that was convicted of murdering her employer and his housekeeper. Dr. Jordan’s goal is to determine whether Grace deserves to be sentenced for her crimes or pardoned on the basis of insanity. The show, which first aired in Canada on CBC, is based on a Margaret Atwood novel, which was inspired by the real life murder of Thomas Kinnear (portrayed by Paul Gross in the miniseries). Watch the trailer above and catch the show when it drops on Netflix on Novmeber 3rd.

Marvel’s The Punisher
https://youtu.be/OMW_dPtm7Bo
One of the long awaited Marvel series has arrived! The Punisher, Vietnam veteran Frank Castle (Jon Bernthal), is one of those grey-area vigilantes that is born out of vengeance. Is he good? Is he bad? It all depends on who you ask and who his target happens to be that day. With all the violence, Marvel’s The Punisher is not for the kiddos; plan to continue your Marvel universe collection binging without the little ones in the room. The Punisher premiered in the second season of Marvel’s Daredevil, and it was his resounding successful reception that fast-tracked his own show. We here at GGA anxiously await this next chapter in the Marvel story! The Punisher comes to Netflix on November 17th.
