Netflix does it again. For months, fans have been wondering about the third installment of Cloverfield. Now Netflix goes and does something no one has done before. The trailer for Cloverfield Paradox premiered during Super Bowl 52 with the announcement that the movie will be immediately available on Netflix after the game!

The first Cloverfield movie follows a group of friends in New York City as it is being attacked by a monster. 10 Cloverfield Lane was the second movie and took place outside of NYC. Though it didn’t directly relate to the first movie, it did continue with the attack by creatures. Now Cloverfield Paradox explains why the NYC attack happens.

The third installment was set to be released this week, but recently Paramount announced an April 20 release date for the movie. Netflix acquired the movie last month. With all the secrecy surrounding the film, no one was really sure when the movie was being released.

I’ve been waiting for this film. It will be interesting to see what Abrams does this time around. And! So has Ava DuVernay who tweeted out the “firsts” that this movie is producing.

The movie is produced by J. J. Abrams, directed by Julius Onah, and stars Gugu Mbatha Raw (Beauty and The Beast), Elizabeth Debicki (Guardians of the Galaxy 2), Daniel Bruhl (Captain America: Civil War), Chris O’Dowd (Bridesmaids), Ziyi Zhang (House of Flying Daggers), and David Oyelowo (Selma).

Here is the official trailer and the first footage of the film.

After the Super Bowl, head on over to Netflix and check out the Cloverfield Paradox.
