Right smack in the middle of our Summer Games Fest 2023, Netflix dropped a brand-new trailer for the upcoming third season of their hit adaptation The Witcher. The upcoming season marks the last hurrah for Henry Cavill as Geralt with Liam Hemsworth set to take over the role in the streaming service’s fourth season. But before we get emotional over this goodbye, we still have eight amazing episodes to get through.

We got our first glimpse at the third season back in April, but the new trailer gives us an even deeper look. At the end of season two of The Witcher, Geralt, Ciri (Freya Allan), and Yennefer (Anya Chalotra) agree to work together to protect Ciri from the horrors to come. And this trailer gives us a glimpse at quite a few of them. From monsters to a formal ball, our found family has quite a lot of excitement ahead of them. Thankfully, this trailer also gives us our lovely bard Jaskier (Joey Batey) who is helping in his little way.

We know that Geralt, Ciri, and Yennefer will head off to Aretuza in season three where they think all is safe. But we know that this isn’t entirely true. They are heading into a politically charged battlefield brewing with dark magic and treachery. But the trailer reminds us just how badass Ciri is as she packs a punch against monsters and casts a few spells. But is a fight really what Geralt wants? He seems pretty set on staying neutral in this fight. But can he?

The third season of The Witcher is a little bittersweet. In all, it seems to be tying up the story that was set into motion back at the beginning of season one. It also marks Cavill’s last time in that glorious white wig. It will be interesting to see how they tackle the shift from Cavill to Hemsworth at the end of this season. Maybe something drastic happened to change his appearance? Or are they going to pull a fast one on us and give us a whole new Witcher to enjoy?
