Oh Boy. Netflix made a devilish announcement for the return of Lucifer, season five, part one later this summer. And they did so with a equally devilish…and hot…video. The video is a compilation, purposely timed at 66.6 seconds, of Lucifer Morningstar’s (Tom Ellis) bad behavior throughout the series. Watch the video below.
Season four ended with Lucifer returning to Hell after he confessed his love to Detective Chloe Decker (Lauren German). Chloe finally returns his feelings, but their timing is all wrong. With a handful of demons on Earth, the risk was too great for the Devil to remain in Los Angeles. He returned to Hell, leaving his new found love behind. So sad (sniff).
Netflix originally billed season five as the final season, followed by the announcement that the final season would be sixteen episodes, released in two parts. Season five production is not complete. The season started filming in September 2019 and stopped in March, due to the coronavirus. Earlier this year there were rumors of a possible season six. The producers and most of the cast were all on board. Ellis was the only cast member who had not signed a contract extension. He finally signed in May.
All we know about season five so far is Inbar Lavi will return as Eve. There will be a musical episode, noir style. Dennis Haysbert will play God. According to TV Line, there’s a possibility that Tricia Helfer will return as Charlotte, aka Mum. And the season will begin with Amenadiel (D. B. Woodside) visiting Hell because there’s a problem on Earth that he cannot handle.
Lucifer returns to Netflix on August 21.
