Fellow members of the ton, we have some exciting news. The cast of Netflix and Shondaland’s Bridgerton has taken to Twitter to announce that filming for season three has begun. The period romance based on Julia Quinn‘s novels has taken the world by storm, and all eyes are on this third season. Along with the filming announcement, we also learned that Daniel Francis, Sam Phillips and James Phoon would be joining the cast.
We learned a few months ago that season three of Bridgerton is diverging from the path. Instead of focusing on second son Benedict Bridgerton (Luke Thompson) and his journey for love, it will bring Colin Bridgerton (Luke Newton) and Penelope’s (Nicola Coughlan) love story front and center. Similar to the novels, their story has been in the background since season one. We’ve watched Polin come closer together and get torn apart until the end of season two. And now that Eloise (Claudia Jessie) is very aware of Penelope’s role as Lady Whistledown, we aren’t surprised that we are diving right into them.

The events of season three will be pulled from Quinn’s novel Romancing Mr. Bridgerton. And just like every romance story, this tale is about the journey. We know (unless Netflix and Shondaland make some significant changes) that the two of them will find each other in the end. The absolute joy is watching how the two of them reach that point. The series has also done a great job building stories in the background. Hopefully, this season will bring more for Benedict and Eloise as we head towards their happily ever after. Especially since Eloise’s story ties directly into the end of Polin’s.
We aren’t entirely sure who Francis, Phillips and Phoon will be playing in the third season of Bridgerton, but we are hopeful we will learn something soon. And with filming underway, we have many questions that we hope will be answered over the next few months. Like when will season three hit Netflix? And who else will be joining this excellent cast?
