After months of speculation, Netflix officially announces the sixth and final season of Lucifer, just ahead of the season five premiere. The announcement came via Lucifer’s twitter account stating, “the devil made us do it…” and this would be the “final, FINAL” season.

This has been quite a roller coaster ride for the series.  Lucifer initially aired on FOX for three season, but was cancelled after the Disney buy out. Netflix saved the show and fans rejoiced. Just after the season four premiere, Netflix quickly announced a fifth and final season.  The fifth season was extended to sixteen episodes and would air in two parts. Back in February, talks began between Netflix and Warner Bro. Television about a possible season six.  Most of the cast and producers signed an extension contract. All except Lucifer star Tom Ellis. Ellis negotiated his extension and sign a contract last month.  So here we are!

Lucifer also stars Lauren German, D.B. WoodsideKevin Alejandro, Lesley-Ann BrandtScarlett EstevezRachael Harrisand Aimee Garcia Season five is already shaping up to be quite an adventure with the return of Inbar Lavi and Tricia Helfer. And the addition of Dennis Haysbert as God.

Lucifer season five premieres August 21 on Netflix.
