Get ready to fall in love with one of our favorite romance stories of all time. Netflix has finally released a teaser for their upcoming adaptation of Alice Oseman‘s graphic novel Heartstopper. We’ve talked about this series before and won’t ever stop talking about it. And as if just giving us the teaser wasn’t enough, Netflix also announced that we won’t have to wait long before we binge this coming-of-age romance again and again.

Heartstopper centers on two schoolboys who meet at secondary school and quickly discover they actually make pretty great mates. Charlie (Joe Locke) is gentle and openly gay, while rugby-loving Nick (Kit Connor) is still coming to terms with who he is. The two realize rather quickly that their unlikely friendship is blossoming into an unexpected romance. With their friends by their side, they learn to navigate this relatable journey of self-discovery and acceptance, supporting each other and finding their most authentic selves.

The teaser for Heartstopper is everything we have been waiting for. It opens with Charlie being comforted by a teacher (Fisayo Akinade) about a boy waiting for him in the bathroom. He questions if this is Charlie’s secret boyfriend or his straight boy crush. We are then treated to a montage of moments between Charlie, Nick and their group of friends that give us a peek into their lives and the journey they are about to go down. It feels authentic to the source material and the trailer gives us the same feelings the story always has.

Heartstopper is one of our favorite stories that bring the LGBTQIA+ community to the forefront. It provides representation across the board. We are excited that Netflix has chosen to bring this story of young love to life and it feels as if they are going to keep it as close to Oseman’s original story as possible. Alongside Locke, Connor and Akinade, the series stars Yasmin Finney, Sebastian Croft, Carinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, William Gao, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood and Chetna Pandya.

Heartstopper is set to hit Netflix starting April 22, 2022. We have dropped the first teaser below for your enjoyment! What are your thoughts on the adaptation so far? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
