We are just a little over a week away from the release of Netflix and Alice Oseman‘s live-action series Heartstopper. Just nine long days until we can fall in love with this beautiful series. And to help us with this wait, we finally have the official trailer! The teaser from last month gave us our first look at the graphic novel adaptation of the series and we instantly fell in love with Joe Locke as Charlie and Kit Connor as Nick.

The new trailer for Heartstopper gives us a better look at the journey Nick and Charlie will take as the two meet in primary school, become friends and drift closer to the possibility of there being more between them. But it isn’t smooth sailing for them as they struggle with their identity, feelings and the friends around them. But can all of that stand in the way of true love? We hope not. From the moment Oseman brought Nick and Charlie to life through her graphic novel, we knew that this was a story for the ages. It is heartwarming but doesn’t shy away from serious issues.

We have high expectations for the Netflix series and hope it can live up to our standards. The trailer mixes the balance of live-action with bits and pieces of Oseman’s art that we have become so fond of over the years. Watching the leaves blow across the screen and little nods to the graphic novel is a treat. We aren’t sure if this is going to be something that happens throughout the series, but we are keeping our fingers crossed. Also, we are unsure if the series will cover just the first novel or if we are getting their entire story from beginning to end. We hope that they take their sweet time and we get more seasons.

Heartstopper stars Lock, Connor, Fisayo Akinade, Yasmin Finney, Sebastian Croft, Carinna Brown, Kizzy Edgell, William Gao, Cormac Hyde-Corrin, Jenny Walser, Rhea Norwood and Chetna Pandya.

Heartstopper will arrive on Netflix starting April 22, 2022. We’ve shared the trailer for your enjoyment below! Are you ready to fall in love with Nick and Charlie? Let us know in the comments below and on social media?
