The Witcher season one is coming in December, but that’s not stopping Netflix from going forward, full steam ahead.  They’ve renewed the series for a second season, ahead of the season one premiere!

Based on the Andrzej Sapkowski fantasy novel series and the subsequent video game, The Witcher stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.  He’ll be returning for season two, with co-stars Anya Chalotra and Freya Allan.  Netflix tweeted the news on Wednesday.

The Witcher has been openly touted as Netflix’s attempt at creating a Game of Thrones-style big-time fantasy series.  Clearly they’re swinging for the fences with a decision to return the The Continent so soon.

Season one of The Witcher will premiere on December 20.  Season two will shoot in London, starting early next year with a planned 2021 release.
