If you are anything like me, you have been mourning the ending of Netflix’s Castlevania since it aired in May 2021. But now we have something new to look forward to! During Netflix’s GEEKED WEEK 2022, we got our first look at the upcoming series Castlevania: Nocturne. It wasn’t enough to just tell us that the series is currently in production. No. They graciously shared a short teaser video too.
We first learned of the spinoff series during last year’s GEEKED WEEK. And while Trevor (Richard Armitage), Sypha (Alejandra Reynoso), and Alucard’s (James Callis) journey has come to an end (for now), we are still tied to them. From the teaser, we get our first glimpse at the series’ protagonist Richter Belmont, the great (times a ton) grandson of Sypha and Trevor. He is decked out with the Belmont crest on a jacket featuring Sypha’s iconic blue color.

We hear disembodied voices speaking out to Richter, and it seems like he will face heavy choices and possibly betrayal throughout the series. And maybe it’s just me and the fact that I have rewatched this clip about a hundred times at this point, but I can swear I hear Callis’ Alucard saying, “so part of you has died.” This isn’t far off since he will live forever and would be the only one of the three that could make an appearance in Castlevania: Nocturne.
Richter will be joined by Maria Renard, a young vampire huntress with ties to the Belmont family and another character from the Castlevania video game franchise. Castlevania: Nocturne will take place during the French Revolution and will most be adapting the storylines found within Castlevania: Rondo of Blood and Castlevania: Symphony of Night. Kevin Kolde will be leading the series as showrunner alongside creator and writer Clive Bradley. Powerhouse Animation is bringing the series to life with producers Project 51 Productions.
Castlevania: Nocturne is still in development and has yet to share any release dates or time frames. But hopefully, we will be seeing this series later this year or early 2023. We’ve shared the teaser below. What are your theories? Do you hear Alucard? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
