Mystical

We are kicking off the New Year with some supernatural WEBTOON love. First on our list is Van. J’s Mystical. The series follows Garam, who has always loved to draw and dreamed of becoming an artist. However, those dreams were put on hold after his mother’s passing. To become more focused on his art, he moves toward the ocean, where he meets his muse. Now, it is up to Garam to help uncover the lost memories of this mystical water creature.

Mystical is a series that focuses on a young man’s journey through his art, which reads and looks absolutely incredible. It has a magical feeling as Garam shares his journey through life. While this story could work with any other art style, Van J’s choice to give it a watercolor-esque painted look helps to bring a sense of fantasy that blends well with the story itself. If you love this series, we highly suggest checking out the creator’s other series, Winter Woods.

Mystical is completed. Readers can find it on the official WEBTOON page.

Spirit Fingers

Our second WEBTOON series this week is Han Kyoung Chal’s Spirit Fingers. Amy Song struggles with awkwardness and lack of self-confidence, but she isn’t ready to give up and become the high school hermit. She’s fully prepared to throw herself into art and join one of the coolest, hippest and strangest art clubs yet, Spirit Fingers. But there is more to learn than art itself. Amy is about to discover who she truly is and what makes her unique.

Spirit Fingers is another WEBTOON series about art, where the style helps elevate the story. The series has a light-hearted feel, but through Amy, we see heavy tones, such as dealing with the struggles of being self-conscious and not fitting in. Watching Amy find her place in the world is enjoyable without changing who she is. Instead, we are delighted that the series teaches readers to embrace their unique quirks and shine bright.

Spirit Fingers is completed. Readers can find it on the official WEBTOON page.
