Last Friday, My Favorite Murder fans received the sad news that Elvis the cat passed away at 16 years old. The cross-eyed Siamese cat became a staple of the My Favorite Murder podcast, best known for his signature outros at the end of every episode which featured a purr-like scream when asked if he wanted a cookie.
His cat-mom, Georgia Hardstark, took to social media to thank the fan base for the outpouring of support.
The support went beyond sympathetic DMs. Fans reached out to the podcast to see if they could donate to charity in Elvis’ memory. So the My Favorite Murder crew teamed up with ASPCA (The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) to launch the “Cookies for Elvis” fundraiser. The ASPCA “… was founded on the belief that animals are entitled to kind and respectful treatment at the hands of humans and must be protected under the law.”
To participate in the fundraiser you can go to the My Favorite Murder store to purchase a “cookie.” Each “cookie” is a $5 donation with all proceeds benefiting the ASPCA in Elvis Hardstark’s name. You can also learn more about the ASPCA and donate a customizable amount directly to them here.
Rest in Paradise, Elvis “Cookie Monster” Hardstark.
We lost a legend. RIP Elvis. We'll miss you.
