John Williams is a name that’s synonymous with music. He’s responsible for some of the most iconic scores of all time, from Star Wars and Jurassic Park to Indiana Jones and Jaws. Now, we’ll get a peek at the man behind the maestro courtesy of Music by John Williams, a new documentary poised to take Disney+ by storm.
Here’s a synopsis per Disney:
“From his early days as a jazz pianist to his 54 Oscar® nominations and five wins, the documentary takes an in-depth look at Williams’ countless contributions to film, including many iconic franchises, as well as his music for the concert stage and his impact on popular culture. The film features interviews with artists and filmmakers whose lives have been touched by his timeless music.”

The Crew
The documentary sees award-winning filmmaker and best-selling author Laurent Bouzereau at the helm. It is produced by Steven Spielberg, Brian Grazer, Ron Howard, Darryl Frank, Justin Falvey, Sara Bernstein, Justin Wilkes, Meredith Kaulfers, Kathleen Kennedy, Frank Marshall and Laurent Bouzereau. Markus Keith and Michael Rosenberg serve as executive producers.

Disney unveiled the key art and official trailer for the documentary, which offers us a glimpse at the famed composer’s prolific career and personal life.

Music by John Williams premieres on November 1, 2024, on Disney+. Before that, the documentary will open the 38th Annual AFI Fest on October 23. On October 24, advance tickets for the limited theatrical run in New York, Los Angeles and London (also debuting on November 1) will be available wherever tickets are sold.
