Murderbot
The Murderbot Diaries, one of my favorite science fiction series, is joining the Apple TV+ lineup. Deadline broke the news earlier this afternoon. Read on to learn what we know about this exciting project.
Apple TV+ announced today that they’re adapting Martha Wells‘ bestselling and award-winning series. The adaptation will be a 10-episode drama series executive-produced by Alexander Skarsgård. Also attached to the project are Chris and Paul Weitz and Paramount Television Studios.

Murderbot follows a security unit that would rather watch soap operas than protect humans from danger. But when the job goes wrong, Murderbot must hide its free will and help its vulnerable clients before it’s too late. Currently, The Murderbot Diaries consists of five novellas and two novels. The most recent, System Collapse, came out this November. Multiple installations in the series have won Hugo and Nebula awards.
A Sci-Fi Hub
In addition to his role as executive producer, Skarsgård will star as Murderbot itself. So far, no other cast members are attached to the project. Apple TV+, however, is no stranger to adapting beloved science fiction stories into epic series, with ongoing shows including Silo and Foundation.
