Disney is playing with my heart. They shared a clip from their upcoming Halloween special, Muppets Haunted Mansion! My favorite Disney ride meshed with The Muppets? Count me in! During a visit last month, I saw tons of advertising for the upcoming special and was curious how they would bring the highly popular ride to life. There are very iconic scenes throughout that I feel need to be included. And that consists of the rides opening show.

The Haunted Mansion‘s opening sequence is one of my favorite. Riders are grouped together in a small octagonal room where the four images stretch as a disembodied voice introduces us to the mansion. One of my favorite lines is simply, “no windows and no doors.” As a child, this moment is terrifying until the elevator door pops open and you are ushered out. As an adult, I really wish I was stuck in that room sometimes. I mean, those portraits are a great way to ignore the true terrors of adult life. But I digress.

The Muppets Haunted Mansion clip shows us just how the special will be handling it. And I am not disappointed! The famous stretching room gets the Muppet makeover and the iconic portraits are perfect. As Gonzo and Pepe (who has other things on his mind) look around, the images stretch. Of course, the bottom half of them show off a more terrifying look at these aristocrats. And in my favorite moment from the clip – Gonzo realizes the room has no windows and no doors. Cue the evil laugh from our Ghost Host, Will Arnett.

It’s the perfect mix of Muppets and Disney spooks and I can’t wait to see what else we have in store. My perfect Muppets Haunted Mansion special would include our favorite Muppets getting lost within the long hallways of the mansion, dancing and celebrating with ghosts in the ballroom, a visit with Madame Leota, a trip to the attic and of course a musical number in the cemetery.

Muppet Haunted Mansion drops onto Disney Plus starting October 8, 2021. Check out the clip below! What is your favorite part of The Haunted Mansion? Let us know in the comments below and on social media!
