In a release timed for International Women’s Day 2023 (March 8), Marvel Studios announced a new series MPower is now available for streaming on Disney+. From executive producer Zoë Saldaña, the four-episode season features episodes that celebrate some of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s empowering women.
MPower
The four episodes of MPower are divided by character. The first is “The Women of Black Panther,” featuring characters like Shuri (Letitia Wright), Nakia (Lupita Nyong’o), Okoye (Danai Gurira), Queen Ramonda (Angela Bassett), and Ayo (Florence Kasumba). “Captain Marvel” focuses on the eponymous star of Captain Marvel and the co-star of the upcoming sequel, The Marvels. These co-stars include Ms. Marvel (Iman Vellani) and Maria Rambeau (Teyonah Parris). Next is “Scarlet Witch,” featuring Elizabeth Olsen‘s titular and incredibly powerful Chaos Magic user. This episode includes plenty of insight into the Disney+ streaming series WandaVision. And the final episode, “Gamora,” focuses on the role that Saldaña herself originated in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 1. This final episode also features additional women from the Guardians franchise like Nebula (Karen Gillen) and Mantis (Pom Klementieff).

Each of the four episodes is between 35 and 40 minutes long. They feature interviews with actors, behind-the-scenes creators, and MCU fans. There is footage from behind-the-scenes on the sets of the featured movies and Disney+ shows. Also included are new artwork and animation featuring the characters, as well as art from Marvel Comics that inspired their onscreen creations.
MPower is an all-new, all-different series. But there is an additional documentary currently available for streaming on Disney+ featuring the women of Marvel. The second episode of the 2020 streaming anthology series Marvel’s 616, “Higher, Further, Faster,” focuses on the women of the MCU. Directed by Community‘s Gillian Jacobs, this documentary specifically focuses on the characters and creators behind some of the women of Marvel Comics.
All four episodes of MPower season 1 are currently available for streaming on Disney+. Check out the trailer below.
