Updated on:

Redfall, Resident Evil 4 Remake and The Last Case of Benedict Fox.

This past year has been an excellent one for the video game community. We’ve explored new worlds, taken on epic bosses and handed in so many quests. But, as the year draws to a close, we must look forward. 2023 has a massive slate of video games for us to enjoy, and while we want to list them all here, we don’t have the capacity to cover all of them. So, we’ve done all the tough work and cut the list down to ten video games coming out in 2023 that we just can’t stop thinking about.

Forspoken

We’ve been waiting quite a bit for Luminous Productions and Square Enix’s Forspoken to grace our gaming stations. The upcoming action role-playing adventure drops Frey into the magical world of Athia. It’s beautiful and terrifying, and all Frey wants is to get home. Players will navigate the world while helping Frey master her newfound magical abilities and battle monstrous creatures. We plan on spending quite a bit of time within this world and exploring all the odds and ends Forspoken has to share.

Forspoken drops January 24, 2023, on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam.

Octopath Traveler II

Our second most anticipated video game of 2023 is Acquire and Square Enix’s Octopath Traveler II. We fell head over heels for the original Octopath Traveler, and we have no doubt the second installment will do the same. This adventure takes place in Solistia, a land mass comprising an eastern and western continent divided by the sea. The story features eight new adventurers with their own origins, motivations and unique skills. We can’t wait to spend countless hours exploring this new adventure.

Octopath Traveler II drops February 24, 2023, for PC via Steam, PlayStation 4, PS5 and the Nintendo Switch.

Resident Evil 4 Remake

Did you think we would have a list of our most anticipated video games of 2023 and not include Campcom’s Resident Evil 4 Remake? Capcom has been dropping remakes over the last few years that use the RE Engine and brings these beloved stories back to life, and this is the one we have been waiting for. Getting the chance to play as Leon again is a dream come true. We can’t wait to see what changes come and relive our favorite moments on the RE Engine.

Resident Evil 4 Remake drops March 24, 2023, on PS4, PS5, Xbox Series X and PC via Steam.

Nightingale

Get ready for a journey of survival and adventure with Infexion Games’ Nightingale. Players will journey into the Fae Realms, where they are met with mystery and danger, which is precisely where we want to be. Players will become Realmwalkers and venture forth alone or with friends while exploring the world, crafting, building and fighting. It has a steampunk-esque feel, and every trailer makes it look even more stunning than the last.

Nightingale will drop in 2023 on PC via Steam.

Ravenswatch

In 2022, we fell in love with top-down roguelike action games, and Passtech Games’ Ravenswatch is helping to keep that love going. Players can go solo or team up with friends to head into battle against the Nightmare invading and corrupting their world. This is a sure shoo-in if you are a fan of their game Curse of the Dead Gods. And while we are excited about the gameplay, a story filled with old folk tales and legends is what really has us excited.

Ravenswatch drops in 2023 on PC via Steam, PS5, Xbox Series X and the Nintendo Switch.

Redfall

Unfortunately, one of our most anticipated video games of 2022 was pushed back, but that means it’s on this list! Anyone who has seen the trailer for Arkane Studio’s Redfall. The open-world co-op FPS vampire-slaying adventure is a must-play game for us. Players can either go solo or team up with friends to face off against terrifying creatures looking to take over the quaint town of Redfall, Massachusetts. The more we learn about this video game, the more we fall in love.

Redfall drops in 2023 on PC via Steam and Xbox Series X.

Sea of Stars

Sabotage Studio’s Sea of Stars is an upcoming turn-based RPG that serves as a love letter to the classics. It follows two Children of the Solstice who will combine the powers of the sun and the moon. The graphic style heavily reminds us of early Final Fantasy Tactics and Saga Frontier games with a similar turn-based combat style. We are all about wholesome, cozy RPG-style games that will give us hours of relaxing content to fall head over heels with.

Sea of Stars drops in 2023 for PC via Steam, PS4, PS5 and the Nintendo Switch.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom

Speaking of cozy games, we are over the moon to finally be able to dive back into the world of Hyrule with Nintendo’s The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom. The highly anticipated sequel to The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild has been on our radar since it was announced during E3 2019. The game is a way to fulfill a lot of the ideas planned for the original game that had to be scrapped while also introducing new elements and storylines.

The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom drops May 12, 2023, on the Nintendo Switch.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre

Would it be a list of our most anticipated games without a horror title? No, no, it wouldn’t. And 2023’s big horror video game on our list is Gun Interactive’s The Texas Chain Saw Massacre. This asymmetrical horror experience is centered on the terrifying 1974 horror cinematic The Texas Chainsaw Massacre. Everything from the trailers to all of the info shared through the community hub has us beyond excited to dive into this horror adventure.

The Texas Chain Saw Massacre drops in 2023 on PC via Steam, PS4, PS5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X.

The Last Case of Benedict Fox

Our final most anticipated video game of 2023 is Plot Twist and Rogue Games’ The Last Case of Benedict Fox. This story takes players into a twisted world of secret organizations, forbidden rituals and cold-blooded murders. A main mechanic in the game is exploring the memories of the deceased victims to search for clues and fight demons. And not just any demons. These are Lovecraftian-inspired demons set in a Lovecraftian-inspired world. Something you know we love.

The Last Case of Benedict Fox drops in 2023 for PC via Steam and Xbox Series X.
