Can you believe it’s already 2025? That means many things to many people, but most important to me are the books coming out in the new year. There are certainly a lot of them, but today, I’m focusing on our most anticipated book sequels of 2025. Read on to glimpse the incredible new stories coming our way.
2025’s Most Anticipated Book Sequels

Onyx Storm by Rebecca Yarros, January 21

One of the most anticipated sequels of 2025 comes out in the very first month of the year! Onyx Storm is book three in Rebecca Yarros’ The Empyrean series, and it promises more romance, fantasy and of course, dragons.

Emily Wilde’s Compendium of Lost Tales by Heather Fawcett February 11

The Tomb of Dragons by Katherine Addison March 11

The Maid’s Secret by Nita Prose April 8

The charming Molly Gray is back in what appears to be her final mystery. Nita Prose’s The Maid’s Secret wraps the series up nicely, with a great payoff at the end.

What Stalks the Deep by T. Kingfisher September 30
Reluctantly traveling to a haunted coal mine in West Virginia, Alex Easton answers a call for help from their old friend Dr. Denton to search for his missing cousin. As a sworn soldier, Alex must face the eerie unknown and uncover the mine’s dark secrets, whether they want to or not.
As the third novella in the Sworn Soldier series, What Stalks the Deep has big shoes to fill. Luckily, T. Kingfisher knows what she’s doing, making this unexpected sequel easily one of our most anticipated of 2025.

Queen Demon by Martha Wells October 7
Kai, the Witch King, joins his companions Ziede and Tahren on a journey to Ancartre, where Dahin claims to have clues to the fabled Hierarchs’ Well. As they uncover dangerous secrets, Kai must confront the looming threat of a new Hierarch’s rise and decide whether he can truly trust his allies to stand by what’s right when the fate of their world hangs in the balance.
Queen Demon is another book that can’t come soon enough for me. I have high hopes that Martha Wells’ sequel wi as incredible as Witch King.

The Strength of the Few by James Islington
There’s no official description yet for The Strength of the Few, but that’s only added to the anticipation. The sequel to The Will of the Many is projected for the end of 2025, so fans will have to keep an eye out for updates from author James Islington.
