There have been a number of attempts at bringing Mortal Kombat to screen.  We’ve all got our dreams about who we might be if the game came to life.  Right?  Where my Kitana’s at?!?  No?  Fine.  Well, now Warner Brothers is bringing the fight to the big screen through animation.  Their animated version, based on Mortal Kombat Legends: Scorpion’s Revenge.  Joel McHale (Community) will voice Johnny Cage and Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) will voice Sony Blade.

The cast is filled out by Jordan Rodrigues as Lui Kang; Patrick Seitz as Scorpion and Hanzo Hasashi; Steve Blum as Sub-Zero; Artt Butler as Shang Tsung; Darin De Paul as Quan Chi; Robin Atkin Downes as Kano; David B. Mitchell as Raiden; Ike Amadi as Jax Briggs; Kevin Michael Richardson as Goro; Grey Griffin as Kitana and Satoshi Hasashi; and Fred Tatasciore as Demon Torturer.  The Hollywood Reporter reported Friday.

Scorpion’s revenge is directed by Ethan Spaulding (Batman: Assault on Arkham, Justice League: Throne of Atlantis), written by Jeremy Adams (Supernatural, Teen Titans Go! vs. Teen Titans) and based on the video game by Ed Boon and John Tobias.

Scorpion’s Revenge will hit theaters in early 2020.  A live-action Mortal Kombat film is in the works and set for 2021 release!
