What do you do when the moon falls out of orbit? On Thursday, Lionsgate unveiled the official trailer for their upcoming sci-fi flick Moonfall, answering this question. Judging by its contents, it appears we’re in for a fast-paced, pedal-to-the-metal adventure.
Here’s the synopsis for the film per Lionsgate:
In Moonfall, a mysterious force knocks the Moon from its orbit around Earth and sends it
hurtling on a collision course with life as we know it. With mere weeks before impact and the world on the brink of annihilation, NASA executive and former astronaut Jo Fowler (Academy Award® winner Halle Berry) is convinced she has the key to saving us all — but only one astronaut from her past, Brian Harper (Patrick Wilson) and a conspiracy theorist K.C. Houseman (John Bradley) believes her.These unlikely heroes will mount an impossible last-ditch mission into space, leaving behind everyone they love, only to find out that our Moon is not what we think it is.

Besides our star trio — Berry, Wilson and Bradley — Moonfall also has Michael Peña, Charlie Plummer, Kelly Yu, Eme Ikwuakor, Carolina Bartczak and Donald Sutherland rounding out its cast.
Roland Emmerich helms the movie with a script by Harald Kloser, Spenser Cohen and Emmerich.
I’m always game for a well-made sci-fi thriller, and it’s lovely to see the consistently brilliant Berry take on more genre projects. Bring on the Sci-Fi Halle Berry Renaissance!
