Happy Birthday, Mobile Game Monday!
That’s right, everybody, our little mobile gaming column has been around for an entire year. Can you believe it? I started this column because, as a busy mom, I found myself gaming more and more on my phone out of convenience. I rarely get time to plant myself in front of my PC or consoles, so I needed something a little more … mobile.

Consequently, this opened up a whole new world of gaming for me that I wanted to share with other players. There is such a huge variety of mobile games, from Triple-A titles to underrated indie gems, that there truly is something for everyone.
Unfortunately, this birthday is bittersweet after an upsetting update about my absolute favorite mobile game. Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp is the game that started it all; the reason I began Mobile Game Monday. In fact, it was the very first game I reviewed for this column. So, let me remind you how awesome Pocket Camp is, and then I will break the sad news.

Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp captures the charm of Animal Crossing and puts it in your pocket. Make new animal friends, then invite them to your campsite, which you have meticulously decorated. I have played this game since it launched several years ago and still play today. Although, nowadays, I mostly check in to play the events, it will always hold a special place in my phone storage.
Sadly, Nintendo has recently announced that they are shutting down online support for Pocket Camp. However, they intend to eventually release a paid version of the game with no in-app purchases so players can still play with their saved data. Get all the details about the future of Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp from this official update announcement.

It is a full circle moment that the game that started Mobile Game Monday is coming to an end the same month we celebrate our anniversary. After playing this game for almost a decade, I am heartbroken to see it go. We can only hope that Nintendo is making this move because they are working on a new Animal Crossing mobile game. Fingers crossed.
Our Adventure Ends Here, or Is It Just Beginning?
I know it sounds cheesy, but Mobile Game Monday changed my life. It was the first major project I did as a professional writer, but most importantly, it brought my family closer together. We have so much fun finding the next game for the week and even more fun playing together.
