The latest Marvel series from NetflixLuke Cage, hit our screens last night and it’s already doing gangbusters. And by “gangbusters,” we mean it’s doing really well and is super awesome.

This, of course, like with all of the other Netflix series, leads us to wonder if a second season is in the cards. This, of course, also begs the question of what that second season might actually look like. After all, Luke Cage could go in three completely different directions. Either he stays 100% solo in his second season, teams up with Iron Fist to do a Heroes for Hire thing or goes back to Jessica Jones for the two of them to get married and give birth to Danielle Cage.

Solo adventures, a team-up or a family drama — three completely different directions, as we said.

Who better to look to for answers than Luke Cage himself — actor Mike Colter.

IGN caught up with him to ask that very question. And, his answer, more or less, was he’s not certain either. As Colter told IGN, “I think that anything is possible down the road.”

Colter then went on to prove that he’s more than aware of those storylines, saying, “We have the Heroes for Hire thing that could possibly happen. And we have Jessica and Luke in the Alias comics hooking up, having a child, and changing their life style. That could happen. You have a multitude of things that could happen.”

Knowing that he is aware of those things gives us the impression that all of that has been discussed by the geniuses over at Marvel Television, though it could also just be that he’s a big fan and has read all of the comics just like we have.

Colter also cautioned that before we even get to a second season of his series, we’ve still got to do the giant team-up series,The Defenders. As he puts it, “We need to develop the characters. I think there’s a big-picture plan that includes everyone doing their own series, which we’ve done, culminating to make The Defenders. I think after that anything goes.”

So, with that in mind, and all four of our heroes meeting in a series before anything else happens, it’s entirely possible it will go both ways — Heroes for Hire in Luke Cage and Luke/Jessica marriage in her series…
