Guess who’s back … again? As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, Michael Keaton will heed the Bat-Signal for Batgirl, starring Leslie Grace in the titular role as Barbara Gordon, the daughter of Commissioner Jim Gordon. According to THR, the expectation is Keaton will reprise his part as Bruce Wayne/Batman.
Adil El Arbi and Bilall Fallah helm Batgirl with a screenplay from Christina Hodson. Besides Keaton and Grace, JK Simmons and Brendan Fraser appear in the DC flick as Commissioner Gordon and Garfield Lynns/Firefly.
The actor dabbles in both DC and Marvel properties, appearing in 2017’s Spider-Man: Homecoming as antagonist Adrian Toomes/Vulture to Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man and 2022’s Morbius with Jared Leto, a.k.a. Dr. Michael Morbius, “The Living Vampire.”
We’ll undoubtedly get scenes with Keaton and Simmons, two legendary titan performers with CBM history. I’m curious to see Keaton as an older Bruce Wayne/Batman, potentially taking Barbara under his wing as a mentor. The possibilities are endless! As long as they give Grace a chance to shine as Batgirl, I’m golden.
Batgirl is currently in production in London with a projected 2022 release on HBO Max.
