With Ryan Coogler directing the up-coming Marvel film, Black Panther, it seemed like it was only a matter of time before Michael B. Jordan, who has worked with Coogler on his other two films, was confirmed to be related to the Wakandan Warrior-King in some way. Well, we’re still waiting on confirmation of who the character is, but we do finally have confirmation that the actor, star of the critically-acclaimed film, Creed, will appear in Black Panther.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “I’m super excited, especially to put a different spin on it. I’m looking forward to working with Ryan [Coogler] once again. It’s gonna be a good time.”
Not sure what he means by “put a different spin on it,” either he’s talking about his particular character or he’s talking about Coogler’s direction, but either way it can’t be a bad thing to have Jordan involved with your film.
One last thing emerged from the interview. When asked who he’s looking forward to working with the most, he responded, “Lupita Nyong’o and Chadwick Boseman.” Boseman, who plays King T’Challa, the Black Panther, is confirmed to be in the film, but up until now Nyong’o has only been rumored.
It’s entirely possible that Jordan has heard the rumors and got it in his head that she’s in the film, but it seems more likely that he knows she’s in the film and is simply taking that news for granted, as if it’s already been announced.
So, in some ways, this was a Black Panther two-for-one!
