METAL GEAR SOLID Finds Its Solid Snake in Oscar Isaac

This is Oscar Isaac‘s world, and we’re just living in it. As reported by Variety, the prolific actor has been cast in Sony Picture’s Metal Gear Solid as the titular Solid Snake. Let the Oscar-ssance continue!

The studio announced the news on Friday. Jordan Vogt-Roberts will helm the project while Derek Connolly will serve as Metal Gear Solid‘s scribe.

Metal Gear Solid will be based on the video game franchise of the same name. PlayStation first introduced the world to Solid Snake in 1987. Snake is a soldier who “infiltrates a nuclear weapons facility to neutralize the terrorist threat from Foxhound, a renegade special forces unit.” Twenty-three video games have been released over a 33-year period.

According to Variety, Isaac expressed interest in portraying Solid Snake during an interview in March 2019. Vogt-Roberts was open to the idea then. Isaac has action flick experience aplenty under his belt, notably starring as Poe Dameron in the Star Wars sequel trilogy. Next, he can be seen in Warner Bros.’ sci-fi epic Dune, wherein he stars as Duke Leto Atreides. Recently, he was in negotiations to star in Marvel’s Moon Knight as Marc Spector, a former mercenary who inherits abilities from Egyptian god Khonshu while near the brink of death.

In short, Isaac’s good for Metal Gear Solid. He possesses leading man charisma, boundless talent and the looks to match. Not to mention, he clearly harbors a love for sci-fi/fantasy/genre. Bring it on, I say!
