HBO Max continues to deliver the cinematic goods and the release of Let Them All Talk‘s official trailer further solidifies that point. Meryl Streep, Candice Bergen and Dianne Wiest star in Steven Soderbergh‘s latest project for the streaming service. Yes, you read that correctly. This is a Streep-Bergen-Wiest hit. A triple threat. The trifecta of the highest acting caliber Hollywood has to offer. Deborah Eisenberg served as the scribe for Let Them All Talk.
Streep is award-winning author Alice. Her agent, portrayed by Gemma Chan, is impatiently waiting for the writer’s next manuscript. However, Alice appears to be hitting a creative brick wall. Her nephew (Lucas Hedges) joins Alice and two of her oldest friends, played by Bergen and Weist, as the group embarks on a trip aboard a cruise ship. This is pre-COVID. You know, before cruise liners were truly considered to be the cesspools of bacteria and disease that they really are.
Fun fact: almost all of the dialogue is improvised, as revealed by Entertainment Weekly. Streep explained the script process to EW:
They would give us the outlines of a situation, and then we knew where we had to end up. But they didn’t tell us how to get there.
Additionally, Bergen noted that shooting the film felt like a dream. “It was over so quickly,” she said.

Let Them All Talk‘s trailer doesn’t reveal much beyond Alice’s struggle to finish her manuscript and some tension with Bergen and Wiest’s characters. Hedges’ character also appears to be a fish out of water while vacationing with a trio of older women. But … it’s Streep, Bergen and Wiest. You know the performances will be the crux of this project. And these three venerable actors will certainly be doling out incredible work.
