In a press release issued on Wednesday, August 9, 2023, McDonald’s announced the “As Featured In” Meal. Beginning Monday, August 14, 2023, customers in more than 100 countries can purchase the Meal. Included among the items in the “As Featured In” Meal will be Loki Season 2 branded sweet & sour sauce tubs that can be scanned to unlock exclusive Loki content.

Along with the Loki Season 2 sauce, the “As Featured In” Meal will feature a choice of one of three fan-favorite entrees: a Big Mac, a Royale with Cheese Quarter Pounder with Cheese, or a 10-piece Chicken McNuggets. Rounding out the meal is a medium fries and a medium soft drink.

The “As Featured In” Meal doesn’t just celebrate Loki Season 2. Instead, it shines a spotlight on many of the high-profile pop culture appearances McDonald’s has made over the years. This includes appearances in movies like The Fifth Element, Space Jam and Coming to America, on shows like The Office and Seinfeld and in many animes, music videos, and Brief Answers to the Big Questions by Stephen Hawking.
However, Loki fans will have some additional motivation for checking out the “As Featured In” Meal. By scanning the Loki sauce lid, fans will experience a sneak peek of Loki Season 2. The lid unlocks a custom AR experience on Snapchat, developed by Marvel Studios. Furthermore, new content will be available each week throughout the promotion.

It remains to be seen what role McDonald’s will play in Loki Season 2. However, the trailer and a brief clip released on social media in conjunction with the meal announcement suggest Loki (Tom Hiddleston) confronts Loki variant Sylvie (Sophia Di Martino) as she works the counter at a retro McDonald’s. What If… The “As Featured In” Meal variant in that timeline includes the Arch Deluxe and a Shamrock Shake?
